Welcome to the January 2, 2008 edition of Carnival of Australia.
I’m privileged to be hosting the very first of this series for 2008. Welcome and I hope you enjoy the articles linked below - please do visit them all and I encourage you to comment when led to do so.
In the meantime, do you set New Year’s Resolutions? I found that often a resolution wouldn’t have enough meaning for me and would get forgotten within a short space of time. But some years ago I decided to start setting goals for the year early each January - part of ensuring my business plan would get reviewed and actioned.
Last January (2007) I set aside a day to think about what I wanted to do and to set goals that met both personal and business needs in my life. I wrote them out by hand and then set them up in PowerPoint. The goals are printed in colour and large type, with pictures that reflect the goals, then laminated and stuck on my office wall above my computer monitor so they are visible on a daily basis. This helps me keep on track and I usually meet at least 75% of the goals each year. If you have nothing to aim for, that is often what you’ll achieve - nothing, or perhaps you might achieve something by accident. I prefer to plan and love that I can look back and feel satisfaction for it.
New Year’s Resolutions frequently don’t have a date set for achievement and often are not documented - they’re just something that are in your mind. So, to have your goals clear in your mind you need also to have them somewhere where you can see them daily. There will always be things that come along to distract you every single day but if you know where you are heading, you will get there, even if you take a few detours along the way.
So, are you going to have any New Year’s resolutions for 2008 or will you be visible setting goals for action?

The US religious scholar Timothy Conway Ph.D has done that in this case. He has released (December 2007) his clarification of points raised about very indicting letters that were circulated (scans link is listed) to peak leaders of the US Sathya Sai Organization by former head, the late Dr John Hislop. Timothy Conway discovered the letters and, in all conscience, released them. The cover up by core leaders of Sai Baba is no less the case in Australia and other countries, from which the Sai Baba cult send to the Sathya Sai Central Trust in India, where the opulence Sai Baba has created to his self-glorification as God on earth is incredible”
