Bigger companies accepting Paypal now

I got an email this morning from Paypal – a genuine one, not one of those phishing type of emails.  What excited me about it was the announcement of Harris Technology now accepting Paypal. Instead of the ’small guys’ copying the ‘big guys’ it’s a case of the other way around.  More and more companies are now accepting Paypal payments and that’s great! We ’smaller guys’ are leading the way with online activity and payment!  If you’re a small business and you still doubt the legitimacy of accepting payments in this way, it’s time to change your thinking!

Below is just an except from their newsletter.

Mash doesn’t do it for me

I received an email yesterday advising me that a profile had been set up for me by xx xx and that this was my invitation to join their network.

I was immediately turned off. First of all, I didn’t even know the guy who had set up this ‘profile’ for me – how dare he do that? No previous contact, no introduction and his name is not familiar to me. Second, the address the invitation had been sent to indicates which network this guy supposedly knows me from but when I check my connection list he is nowhere to be found. He has just proven himself not to be trustworthy.

I contacted the people at Mash and asked them to remove the profile – as yet no response and it’s well over 24 hours ago. I’ve had to do it myself after I spent some (wasted) time exploring.

I think just this one thing has proven to me that Mash is not a network I want to participate in. And if the responses from my colleagues in a business network are anything to go by, neither will they.

Interesting, when you search Yahoo’s Terms of Service it actually states that you can make your page modifiable by others in Mash. What the? And so doesn’t the ‘owner’ get any say in the first place as to whether they want a profile? I think they’ll have problems with this – it’s an open door to trouble. What do you think?

Carnival of Australia January 2, 2008

Welcome to the January 2, 2008 edition of Carnival of Australia.

I’m privileged to be hosting the very first of this series for 2008. Welcome and I hope you enjoy the articles linked below – please do visit them all and I encourage you to comment when led to do so.

In the meantime, do you set New Year’s Resolutions? I found that often a resolution wouldn’t have enough meaning for me and would get forgotten within a short space of time. But some years ago I decided to start setting goals for the year early each January – part of ensuring my business plan would get reviewed and actioned.

Last January (2007) I set aside a day to think about what I wanted to do and to set goals that met both personal and business needs in my life. I wrote them out by hand and then set them up in PowerPoint. The goals are printed in colour and large type, with pictures that reflect the goals, then laminated and stuck on my office wall above my computer monitor so they are visible on a daily basis. This helps me keep on track and I usually meet at least 75% of the goals each year. If you have nothing to aim for, that is often what you’ll achieve – nothing, or perhaps you might achieve something by accident. I prefer to plan and love that I can look back and feel satisfaction for it.

New Year’s Resolutions frequently don’t have a date set for achievement and often are not documented – they’re just something that are in your mind. So, to have your goals clear in your mind you need also to have them somewhere where you can see them daily. There will always be things that come along to distract you every single day but if you know where you are heading, you will get there, even if you take a few detours along the way.

So, are you going to have any New Year’s resolutions for 2008 or will you be visible setting goals for action?

Timothy Conway discovered the letters and, in all conscience, released them. The cover up by core leaders of Sai Baba is no less the case in Australia and other countries, from which the Sai Baba cult send to the Sathya Sai Central Trust in India, where the opulence Sai Baba has created to his self-glorification as God on earth is incredible”
