Theme Addiction

Do you have a blog theme addiction?

I have and I have it bad. I spend hours and hours and hours looking for just that right look and sometimes I ‘put up with a theme’ until I have time to go in search again.

Case in point - my Proverbs 31 Woman blog. I just can’t find the right look but I would like to portray a woman with old-fashioned values who is a mother at home and a business woman too. So she could be pictured with an apron, or with kids around her, and definitely in a home environment. But I’ve not see many blog themes that match that description. And then it also needs to have a blogroll that categorises blogs although I believe I can add a code for that.

And sometimes when on the hunt I find other templates I love and I end up starting blogs I really don’t need but love the template so I want to use it. Another case in point - Kathie’s Garden. This one is badly in need of new posts.

But sometimes I can find just the right template like the one for this blog - I’m happy with it, and for several other blogs I have or blogs I manage for clients. One of my latest ones is Block’s Indicator - I actually found about 5 different templates ideal for that one so we’re trying them out as the blog ages gradually.

I did eventually find a theme for Proverbs31-woman.com though that I like - although it doesn’t have the look I originally envisioned. But I like the way the categories are done.

So, tell me about your favourite themes or your blog addiction!

  1. I confess, addicted to customizing themes, fun playing with the graphics. I look for how a theme functions more than the appearance, then customize the css.

Kathy, you’ve done great with your blogs. I could not keep up with so many. Keep having fun with the makeovers.

  2. Hi Kathie!

My blog is only new and it has undergone quite a few extreme makeovers in it’s short life! ;) I found one theme (with 3 columns) I really liked and just kept fiddling with it which has been fun and now I’m finally happy with it…..for now!

I’m starting to suspect as the blog evolves you can’t help but change it’s theme accordingly as it’s an ongoing WIP - but it might have more to do with my getting bored quickly!

  3. I don’t think I’m actually addicted but I do like trying out different themes. I recently found one that I loved, but although it said it was widget-ready, it wasn’t, and it was way too difficult to customize it the way I wanted. I was disappointed, but did find another I liked almost as much.

  4. I can’t say I’m addicted to themes but I do know what you mean about finding the right one. I am struggling right now to get the right look for my new Diva Travels blog and I can’t just seem to find it. I envy all of you that understand code well enough to customize your own. All I can do is fill in the blanks and hope for the best!

  5. Count me in on the addiction. I am currently looking for a theme and it is driving me crazy!

  6. No Kathie,

I can’t say I’m addicted to themes but I am a stickler about CONTENT. I want all of it to have some meaning and not just a “ramble” about nothing.

I also try to look for other blogs that will stimulate my mind or educate me on some level or are just FUNNY.
