So sorry to hear that Jesse. I assume you're working with version 2.6? Might be worth checking the wordpress support forum to see if there is any updates or if anyone describes a similar problem to you. If you do find out how to resolve it, please do come back and let us know!

This was of no use to me with the categories issue. It would appear that there are more than one issue with disappearing categories.

When I add a new category as you suggested it shows for a moment. But hit refresh and it is gone just like the others. And since it does not show as a selectable category under the post, there is no way to attach the post to the new category or any other for that matter.

Thanks for the effort but unfortunately it does not work for me.

No, unfortunately I don't have an sql backup - at least I don't think so. I know there is a fix for getting my directory writeable too - I had a cpanel crash early last month and we shifted to a new server but unfortunately a number of my blogs are rendered 'not writable' to the server so we can't get the back up to work. Exporting to xml is my best fix at the moment.

Such a shame you're on slow connection as that would make it tedious for you. I was on the phone last week and just sat updating things online as I participated in the phone discussion. And then finished it afterwards while watching TV.

It already 2.6.1 version of WP now. But I'm still afraud to upgrade it. lol. I dont want my blog messed up again.

Thx for pointing into my tutorial

Btw link the table back up? Oh... I also dont understand that. I just re-upload entire database back up. ehheehehe

You cant open your SQL data base backup file? My backup file is on SQL extention but I open it with notepad++. Thats why I can searching my category ID with that.

I also want to do similar way like U to manually re enter category. But with my slow connection and more than 500 post, I think I dont want to do that. lol So I try to find another way like in my tutorial ^^

Great thing U already able to fix Ur problems ^^
