Twitter – the fastest news source?
I was checking for updates on Twitter this morning and noticed a message posted only 2 mins previous. A plane had come down in New York. Another Twitter post followed shortly thereafter, then another and another. Then I saw an email come through Outlook on one of my forums announcing similar. The 8am news came on only 10 mins later with a report on what had taken place. Thankfully all on board the plane are safe and have been rescued.
I’m still learning how Twitter works but it’s all now falling into place for me, and has been for the past few weeks. I’m sure there’s more to learn about it. But seeing a fresh news item there before anywhere else was rather a revelation to me!

I think social networking sites like Twitter will change the way news is gathered and received. That can be good and BAD but if you are an eyewitness to a news breaking event, it certainly can be far-reaching.
I’m yet to tap into Twitter but, the more I hear, the better it sounds. Guess I’ll just have to start tweeting soon!
Between what you’re learning (and sharing) about twitter and the discussions on the BDN group, I’m almost ready to sign up! Thanks for the info!
I can relate to the hesitation to join Twitter, I had it too. Then I was told that as the blogging intern for familyfoodies I must join and become a social butterfly.
Well now that I’m there several times a day, I can see why folks can become addicted. It’s interesting to see what goes on in other people’s lives, and what their thoughts are.
Jump in and become a Twit!
Alright Kathie, you’ve convinced me. I will have to get on Twitter. I actually don’t know why I’ve put it off so long, but it looks like it’s time to just do it!
I, too, am learning about Twitter. I think it is an awesome tool. Thank you for your thoughts about Twitter.
I am learning to love Twitter. Had an interesting interview with Debbie Weil on Friday about Using Social Networking to grow your business and she talked about several companies effectively using Twitter. So I am going to make a more concerted effort to “play.”
Thanks for the post,

I am still three steps behind the latest technology, but would some day like to try it.
Twitter is cool, glad to see more and more there. I know when the hurricanes passed through earlier this year, I had minute by minute, town, by town live coverage through twitter and #IKE
Now I’m learning it is also a cool research tool.
Hi. I read a few of your other posts and wanted to know if you would be interested in exchanging blogroll links?
